Performances scalability
In this test we wanted to investigate on the capacity of the controller to offer high performances as the data dimension changes, all in a sequencial transferring setting.
The curve, which is quite steep in its initial part, shows the capacity of offering good performances even with small files, the peak is already reached with 128/256Kb blocks.
Consistency of performances
To evaluate the consistency a stress test has been performed for 20 minutes, in both reading and writing mode, using 4Kb data and measurng the number of I/Ops performed by the disk.
In this case the results are quite excellent, there is no hint of a performance degradation, neither in reading (expected result) nor writing mode (harder to achieve).
The Phison S10 controller does its duties just fine, allowing the Nuetron XT to work at the best of its opportunities even after long reading and writing sessions.
Mixed settings performances
The last test is dedicated to a check of the disk behaviour in simultaneous writing ad reading situations, evaluating the reaction in real cases of usage.
We used 128Kb data in a sequencial manner with a writing/reading percentage which varies.
The results are quite good, the classic curve shows values vompresed between 200 and 350Mb/s in the central part, which grants an optimal user experience with the Corsair disk.
Performances in application settings
Lastly, we focused in directly simulating some of the most widespread application environments by setting up our testing platform to simulate scenarios related to Database, File Server, Web Server and Workstation.
Data derives from what is provided by VMware and IOmeter and allow to recreate the regular accesses to this kind of computing machine to simulate them at best.
In particular the used profiles utilize 4 CPU each for 4 parallel disk accesses and the following data:
The results achieved are quite elevated in their whole.
We measured more than 10.000 operations per seconds, the double of what a Web Server is capable of, in which the random reading of data is total.
As a conseuence the obtainable speeds are quite high, in every case superior to 100Mb/s; in a Web Server setting it brushes 300Mb/s, and the creation of systems capable of handling a large aggregate traffic is possible.
Conclusions
Corsair has introduced a line dedicated to the more enthusiasts PC users which is good for server and workstation environments too. The absolute values are quite high and team up with great endurance characteristics, with a constant I/Ops managed by the disk even after long work sessions.
The disks, because of their very nature, are especially suited to be used in RAID configurations so that the performances can be increased (reading in RAID1 above all).
